- Cockroaches like dark, damp spaces and seek places that offer them food, shelter and water.
- They like to eat starches and meats and are attracted to food in restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, where they can easily access food.
- Cockroaches are not picky and are able to eat and survive on whatever food or substances readily available for them. Thus, they are usually found in sewage systems, alleyways or dump basements.
- They are able to transport themselves into your home or building by burrowing and travelling in TVs, used furniture or food items such as flour and used beverage containers. They also burrow behind walls and in between cracks of buildings and multiply rapidly.
- Because cockroaches are mostly active at night, they are often able to live inside buildings unnoticed making it possible for them to continue to multiply and infest neighboring buildings.
- High infestation of cockroaches can cause structural damage to buildings.
- They eat almost anything including faeces containing pathogens. As they walk over food and surfaces, they defecate contaminating those items and spreading pathogens.
- Cockroaches produce allergens that can cause an allergic response in humans.
- Rats are very adept movers, they can squeeze their tiny bodies into almost any space as small as ½ inch.
- They are also excellent climbers and jumpers making it almost impossible to keep them out of your house and buildings.
- Rats are nocturnal but if you have a high infestation you may be able to see them during the day.
- Their vision and sense of hearing is excellent making them quick to disappear if they hear or see you approaching.
- Rats breed very quickly, as soon as five weeks of age and a pair of rats may produce 650 more rats in a year.
- Famous for being able to chew through things e.g. soft concrete, wood, plastic and aluminium.
- Termite queens have the longest lifespan of any insect in the world and may live up to 50 years.
- The discovery of termites on your property can reduce its value by almost 20% but only if the infestation is discovered in time to be treated.
- Termites are more active when and where it’s warm in order to store food for winter.
- Termites mostly feed on dead plant material and cellulose in the form of wood, leaf litter, soil or animal dung.
- Their habit of remaining concealed results in their presence being undetected until buildings are severely damaged.
- It’s only the female mosquitoes that bite and suck blood to acquire protein that helps them feed their eggs.
- They are addicted to carbon dioxide (CO2) thus, they follow the smell of CO2 released from human breath.
- They are the world’s deadliest pests.
- They have been recorded to suck 1.6 million gallons of blood of people which equals 4 blood transfusions.
- House flies will lay their eggs on items such as faeces, rotting carcasses, and decaying fruit.
- They can’t actually chew your food if they land on it, so the fly vomits stomach enzymes that break up the food for them to slurp with their proboscises.
- Flies taste with their feet. The hairy legs and arms instantly infect your food when it lands with Cholera or E. coli.
- Most breeds of fly can lay maggots inside you. They will be more likely to choose you if you have an open wound that’s easy to reach, or you’re just unclean in general can start a maggot infestation in unbroken skin.
- They prefer corners and edges or thin objects to rest on. Indoors they rest on floors, walls and ceilings. Outdoors they rest on plants, ground, fence wires, garbage cans.
